Wondering how to sum up 2009?  Thinking about what recurring themes you would like to change for a better 2010?  There is a pretty cool little app doing the rounds on Facebook at the moment that will create a pretty little collage made up from some of your random updates from 2009.  Pick a layout, choose a title, and away you go.

Facebook vs Your Inbox

I miss emails from my friends. When I opened my inbox in the mornings I used to enjoy catching the odd “Hi how are you?” or “I have to tell you about the funny thing that just happened to me!” message muddled in with my newsletters, enquiries and client correspondence. It’s a question that I get asked frequently during consultations with new clients:  “Do I need a blog?”   May answer for the majority of clients, was always “Yes.”   As a writer, I may be a little biased, but I also knew the power of a good blog for both attracting traffic and interacting with site visitors.   However, with so many new ways to accomplish those two goals online, I now pause for thought before making my recommendation.

Is Facebook really the devil?  I don’t see it written in their Terms and Conditions.

One of the leading stories on UK news this morning was regarding the notion of businesses banning Facebook from the workplace. Much as I am a strong advocate for social media sites, I am even stronger advocate for improving efficiency – something which the great FB cannot even manage for it’s own site, (do you see an easy-to-find link to a person’s pages and groups on their profile?) let alone inspire in it’s users.
